SAVED BY SKATEBOARDING DAY
Saved By Skateboarding Day at "The Doug" was presented as a showcase for the students in the program and as a competition for local skateboard talent, but it really functioned as a charity event. On-Deck Alliance collected over 100 backpacks filled with school supplies, donated by local churches, to be donated to students in need. ODA also donated over $500 in new skateboards and protective equipment to the community youth, providing the youths access to the benefits of the sport of skateboarding.
What started as a desire to clean the local DIY skatepark and build a BBQ pit for the park for On-Deck and the DUBS Foundation turned into the Toledo skateboarding community taking ownership of its space. Over 80 local skaters, friends, and family helped clean up the area and skated. "Beautify, Build, and Grill" was the motto of the day while the community came together to take care of a shared and beloved space.
The BBQ pit was donated and built by the DUBS Foundation while ODA organized the cleanup where over 1700 pounds of trash and debris were removed, trimmed and disposed of. This event united the local skate community.
RYNO
STRONG
This contest doubled as a benefit for Fremont Ohio's Ryno Skateshop. Ryan, the owner, was struck by a car while skating. His friends Dan and Brock, as well as the Fremont, OH skate scene, united to pull this off. The funds raised were used to keep the shop running and help his family while Ryan was in recovery.
With donations from local skate brands, The Toledo Ohio skate community, friends and family this event raised $3000 dollars to donate to keeping the shop running.
